1st Philippine Symposium on Sustainable Sanitation Print E-mail

The Philippine EcoSan Network (PEN) and the Center for Advanced Philippine Studies (CAPS) recently concluded the first Philippine Symposium on Sustainable Sanitation. Coinciding with the opening of the Symposium is the Global Handwashing Day Celebration. Initiated in 2008 by the Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing with Soap, Global Handwashing Day is endorsed by a wide array of governments, international institutions, civil society organizations, NGOs, private companies and individuals around the globe. The event was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City from 15-16 October 2009.

Call for Abstracts Print E-mail

The Philippine Ecosan Network (PEN) will be holding the Philippine Symposium on Sustainable Sanitation concurrent with the celebration of Global Handwashing Day on 15-16 October 2009 in Makati City. The Symposium will showcase innovative and forward looking programs, projects, initiatives and good practices addressing the myriad problems of sanitation in the country. This is an activity of the PEN under the Stockholm Environmental Institute-EcoSanRes 2 Philippine Knowledge Node Project.

PEN draws roadmap for the IYS Print E-mail

The Philippine Ecosan Network held its second planning meeting last 10 December 2007 at CAPS Office in preparation for the 2008 International Year of Sanitation.  The meeting was attended by 24 members representing the Department of Health (DOH), Center for Advanced Philippine Studies (CAPS), Water and Sanitation Program-World Bank (WSP-WB), House of Representatives - Committee on Ecology, USAID Program (Philippine Sanitation Alliance), Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), UNICEF-Philippines, PLAN-Philippines, STREAMS of Knowledge, Basic Needs Services-BORDA, Manila Water Company (MWCI), SuSEA-TAMS, and Radian Consulting.

PEN sets-up formal organization Print E-mail

After two years of synergistic existence, the Philippine Ecosan Network decided to organize formally and register with the Security and Exchange Commission as a non-profit organization.
